Alascom
Aurora I satellite of RCI Alascom (now AT&T Alascom) launched in 1982 brought the first telephone service to the remote regions of Alaska.
Hughes satellites launched in 1972, 1978, 1985 for Telesat Canada created the geostationary communications satellite series providing television, voice and data throughout Canada. In the Inuit language, Anik means "little brother.”
ATS-6 (ATS-F) (Applications Technology Satellite-6) built by Fairchild Space and Electronics Division. The satellite was operational between 1974 and 1979 and was walked around the equator to bring educational television programming from India to the Middle East as part of the NASA experimental satellite program.
CTS – Communications Technology Satellite was a joint US (NASA) and Canada (CRC), a geosynchronous, high-power direct broadcast communications satellite used by a number of researchers between 1976 and 1979. The first satellite testing the Ku-Band frequencies for direct-to-home services. The satellite was also called “Hermes.”
ETS-IV – launched for NASDA (now JAXA) of Japan on February 11, 1981 tested communications and broadcasting capabilities until December 24, 1984.
GMS - The Japanese Geostationary Meteorological Satellite launched 1977 by NASA.
GSTAR-A1 – GTE Spacenet launched 1985
